ETHICAL TRENDS AND ISSUES IN IRISH JOURNALISM, 1973 TO 2008.
26 September 2008
A survey of ethical trends in Irish journalism was conducted by Mr Simon Bourke MAJ between January and September 2008. It included discussions with key personnel, consideration of leading cases or incidents and a review of relevant codes. Dublin City University is grateful to all those who cooperated in its completion.
The survey was funded by Dublin City University’s Institute of Ethics, on foot of an application by Prof. Colum Kenny of the School of Communications, DCU, who supervised the project.
On 26 September 2008, the results of the survey were presented to a symposium at Dublin City University, which event was attended by both academics and practitioners. The symposium was reported in the national newspapers on the following day.
The full survey and ancillary materials are published here as a public service.
